Onsite Recruitment Solution Decreases Time-to-Fill by 2 Months for World’s Largest Chemical Company



BASF began considering an onsite recruitment model when they realized their single contingent agency model – comprised of unspecialised, high turnover consultants attempting to support 14 unique business units – were adversely affecting time to fill, manager satisfaction and new hire turnover. Recruitment activity had become completely reactive with no consistent point of contact. HR had no way of accurately measuring costs, time-to-fill or quality of hires. An expensive and disjointed pay-per-hire model was also front of mind.

The ANZ division of the world’s leading chemical company required a fully outsourced, proactive and transparent onsite recruitment solution to provide significant change across the entire recruitment and selection process.

Specifically, BASF needed:

Hudson RPO recruitment agents have been onsite at BASF since the beginning of 2013. Supported through a blended RPO/Agency model (driven by the in house team) Hudson manage a fully integrated solution recruiting permanent and fixed term roles across Australia and New Zealand. This includes some challenging geographic locations in remote WA and southern NZ. The onsite recruiting team is based at the sub regional head office in Melbourne, operating as part of the BASF HR group.


Over the last 12 months, the Hudson onsite team has proven itself to be a trusted adviser to the BASF business across ANZ. Exceeding all year one KPI’s Hudson RPO have also delivered additional value through their extended network of professional services including ATS optimisation, graduate selection and social media development. Hudson RPO’s onsite expertise have also been recognised at the Asia Pacific level, with the onsite team now taking part in a monthly recruitment meetings to drive improvements across the region.  This success has been acknowledged through an extension of the partnership into a second year.
